Judith Mackson BPharm MMedSc(ClinEpi) is undertaking her PhD research at the Sydney Pharmacy School and Charles Perkins Centre’s Evidence, Policy and Influence node, at the University of Sydney, Australia, examining systems and policy for population level monitoring of medicines use.
Judith holds qualifications in pharmacy and pharmacoepidemiology, and has a background in clinical, hospital and community pharmacy, drug information, clinical practice improvement, and medicines regulation and policy. Professional interests encompass evidence-based medicines policy and regulation, the application of pharmacoepidemiology to rational drug use, quality use of medicines, and drug utilisation and health outcomes research.
As the former NSW Chief Pharmacist, Judith managed policy and regulation of medicines and poisons and provided advice to government and the NSW health system. At the former NPSMedicineWise, she managed the health professional intervention program to improve drug therapy decision making. Judith has a unique understanding of the consumer, the provider, the policy maker and the whole of system perspective in quality use of medicines.
