Daniel Fernández-Llaneza (MSc, MRes) is a PhD candidate at Amsterdam University Medical Centre (UMC)/University of Amsterdam. His research project is focussed on investigating the value of machine learning and big data to optimise pharmacotherapy outcomes in multimorbid patients (the LEAPfROG project, https://www.pharmacoinformaticslab.nl/en/leapfrog/). More specifically, he is working on the particular use case of chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients who experience drug-induced acute kidney injury (AKI). His research interests lie at the intersection of the areas of pharmacoepidemiology, medical informatics, machine learning and causal inference. In the past, he also worked in the pharmaceutical industry supporting real-world evidence studies and various data science and machine learning projects.
