Ursula Kirchmayer, MPH, FISPE is a pharmacoepidemiologist in the Department of Epidemiology, Lazio Regional Health Service in Rome, Italy with training in pharmacy and a master’s degree in Public Health.
After her studies in Germany, she moved to Italy, where she entered the Department of Epidemiology in 1998, first working in environmental epidemiology, and since 2007 in clinical epidemiology, where she has been a driving force behind pharmacoepidemiology.
She is a co-chair of the pharmacoepidemiology working group of the Italian Epidemiological Association, and a member of the regional commission of pharmacovigilance and of the scientific committee of the regional drug commission. She represents her department at the European Network of Centres for Pharmacoepidemiology, and Pharmacovigilance, and was among the founders of the Italian network of ENCePP centres.
Ursula Kirchmayer has been attending ISPE conferences since 2011. She has served on ISPE's Board of Directors, representing Government/Regulator Europe/Africa, since 2019, and currently serves as one of the Board’s representatives on the ISPE Strategic Planning Committee. She was Co-Chair of the ISPE Mid-Year meeting in Rome in 2019 and was a member of the ICPE Scientific Program Committee for the annual meeting in Philadelphia. She is a member of the SIGs Biologics, Geriatric Pharmacoepidemiology, and Environmental Pharmacoepidemiology and has been serving as a reviewer for conference abstracts, as a moderator for scientific sessions and also in the review group for ISPE funded manuscripts. She regularly serves as reviewer for Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety. In 2019, she was awarded the status of FISPE.
From August 2025 Ursula Kirchmayer will be ISPE's president-elect.
