Neetu Bansal is a clinical academic pharmacist with an interest in medicines optimisation and pain management in the peri-operative pathway to improve surgical patient outcomes. As the first pharmacist NICE scholar in the country, Neetu set up an innovative service aimed at optimising patients throughout their surgical journey. This work has demonstrated a reduction in length of stay and improved patient outcomes and adopted by various organisations. As co-chair of the UKCPA surgery committee, Neetu has worked on various consultations with national bodies to demonstrate the value of pharmacists at a national level.
Currently in the final year of an NIHR Clinical Doctoral research fellowship (CDRF), Neetu is focusing on the critical issue of appropriate opioid use post-surgery.
