Maryam Taghizadeh-Ghehi received a PharmD degree in 2007 and graduated as a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapist in 2013, both from Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Since October 2015, she has been engaged in clinical research as an assistant professor at the Research Center for Rational Use of Drugs, Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS). For a period of two years (2018-2020), she served as the research deputy of the center. She currently serves as a section editor in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Care. Additionally, she serves as the center’s international affairs coordinator, with the objective of obtaining international research grants, planning contributions to international projects, and facilitating international student admission into research-based postgraduate programs. A significant portion of her research activities has been dedicated to areas including pharmacoepidemiology, drug utilization studies, interventions to improve appropriate drug use, assessment of drug efficacy and safety, and patient education. She has been involved in a number of observational and interventional studies, acting as the principal investigator for nearly fifty percent of them. She endeavours to maintain contact with those involved in the appropriate use of drugs, including health policy-makers, drug regulatory managers, health care professionals and patients. She is keen to integrate research into the healthcare system and practice.
