Attending physician
Department of Ophthalmology, Chi Mei Medical Center, Taiwan (Republic of China)
I am an ophthalmologist and dedicated researcher at the forefront of pharmacoepidemiology. Since 2011, I have served as an attending physician at the Chi Mei Medical Center in Tainan, Taiwan, where my medical practice and research endeavors converge to enhance patient care through innovative drug utilization.
My doctoral research in pharmacoepidemiology has propelled me to international recognition, particularly through my active participation in the International Conference on Pharmacoepidemiology & Therapeutic Risk Management (ICPE). My engagement in this arena is driven by a commitment to forge strong research networks and advance the field not only in Taiwan but across Asia. This commitment is especially significant as it represents the growing influence of Asian scholars in global medical research communities, and highlights the unique contributions of women in specialized fields like ophthalmology.
In 2022, I had the honor of presenting two pivotal studies at the 37th ICPE in Copenhagen, Denmark. My first presentation focused on the risks associated with Intravitreal Anti-VEGF treatments. Published in the BioDrug journal, this study, titled "Effect Modification by Indications to the Risks of Major Thromboembolic Adverse Events in Patients Receiving Intravitreal Anti-VEGF Treatment – A Population-based Retrospective Cohort Study," addressed crucial safety and efficacy concerns in ophthalmologic treatments.
My second study broadened the scope to oncology, exploring the "Risk of Retinal Vein Occlusion in Colorectal Cancer Patients Using Anti-VEGF." This research, presented at the same conference and later published in BMC Cancer, underscored the interdisciplinary nature of pharmacoepidemiology, showing how ophthalmological research can intersect with other medical fields to improve therapeutic outcomes for a broader patient demographic.
These contributions are not just academic achievements but stepping stones towards safer, more effective medical therapies globally. My journey reflects a deep-seated desire to enhance healthcare through research, making a tangible difference in the lives of patients around the world.
