Kathryn Rough (ScD, ScM) is an epidemiologist by training, with over 12 years of experience of using real world data to answer a variety of medical and healthcare questions. She is currently an Associate Director of Epidemiology at IQVIA's Center for Advanced Evidence Generation.
Prior to IQVIA, Kathryn spent 4 years at Google creating innovative deep learning-based health technologies, including leading a team researching how machine learning can be leveraged to reduce medication errors. She was also a core development team member for the privacy-preserving Apple/Google COVID-19 Exposure Notification System.
Since joining IQVIA in January 2022, Kathryn has specialized in the delivery of digitally innovative real world studies, particularly those involving wearables/sensor data and/or machine learning.
Kathryn has extensive experience with machine learning/deep learning, electronic health record data, wearables/sensor data, insurance claims data, comparative safety/effectiveness studies, and methods for causal inference. She also has software development experience and frequently collaborates with technical/engineering teams.
