Erna Kristin is Professor of Pharmacology and head of the division of Pharmacoepidemiology, Pharmacovigilance, and Pharmacoeconomy at The Department of Pharmacology and Therapy, Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Her illustrious career spans over three decades with a solid foundation in pharmaceutical sciences. Professor Kristin obtained her Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees from Universitas Gadjah Mada, demonstrating her deep-rooted connection to the institution. She was trained as a pharmacist and her main research area is pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacoeconomy.
Her research portfolio is extensive, with numerous publications in high-impact journals, focusing on drug efficacy & safety, health outcomes, and the optimization of therapeutic strategies. These works have not only enriched academic literature but have also influenced clinical practices and health policies. She has collaborated with health professionals and policymakers in various institutions to help implement drug formulary at the national level and hospital level. She has experience in conducting economic evaluations and analyses using real-world data to support the National Health Insurance program in Indonesia.
Her expertise has led to her participation in various committees at the national level in Indonesia. She is the vice chairman of the National List of Essential Medicine Committee, vice chairman of the National Committee on Drug Formulary, a member of the National Committee on Health Technology Assessment, and a member of the National Committee on Drug Evaluation at The National Agency of Drug and Food Control.
In addition to her research endeavours, Professor Kristin is a dedicated educator. She has mentored countless students, guiding them through their academic journeys and instilling in them a passion for research and lifelong learning. Recognized for her contributions, Professor Kristin has received Satya Lencana Karya Satya awards from the President of the Republic of Indonesia reflecting her excellence in research, teaching, and community services.
