Dr. Sarpatwari is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and an Associate Epidemiologist in the Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics in the Department of Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Within the Division, Dr. Sarpatwari helps lead the Program On Regulation, Therapeutics, And Law (PORTAL), focusing his research on the effects of laws and regulations on therapeutic development, approval, use, and related public health outcomes. Dr. Sarpatwari's work has appeared in top peer-reviewed medical and health policy journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, the BMJ, and Health Affairs, and his commentary is routinely sought by reporters in prominent newspapers such as the New York Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal. In addition to his role with PORTAL, Dr. Sarpatwari is also a Faculty Affiliate with the Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology, and Bioethics at Harvard Law School, the Behavioral Insights Group at the Harvard Kennedy School, and the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where he teaches an annual course on Public Health Law and serves as the Faculty Director of the JD/MPH program.
