Jacqueline Hugtenburg is professor of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at the University of Curacao and associate professor Pharmacoepidemiology.at the VU University Medical Centers.
She performed a variety of studies on pharmaceutical care, including patient education at first prescription, discharge counselling, deprescribing and adherence. She is involved in a number of research projects in the field of a) the pharmaco-epidemiology of diabetes mellitus, anxiety and depression and cancer, b) pharmaceutical care for older patients, patients with diabetes mellitus and cancer patients and c) drug utilization, drug use in daily practice, and drug safety. There has always been a close relationship between her activities as a community pharmacist closely cooperating with GPs (daily practice) and her research projects (academia).
