Mehmet Burcu is a Senior Director in the Department of Epidemiology at Merck & Co., Inc., Rahway, NJ, United States. In his current role, he works with large automated database studies as well as global multi-country real-world data studies to support clinical development and regulatory decision making. He received his doctoral training with a focus on Pharmacoepidemiology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. He has published extensively on a wide range of pharmacoepidemiology, drug safety, policy, and real-world evidence topics. He currently serves as the co-chair for the ISPE Public Policy Commitee as well as in the ISPE RWE SIG leadership team as the lead of Publications and Education working group. Previously, he also served as the chair of the ISPE Pediatrics SIG and as the co-lead of the ISPE RWE Task Force Manuscript Development Subgroup to support the advancement of methods aimed at the application of real-world evidence.
