Dr. Peetluk is a PhD epidemiologist, currently working as an Epidemiologist at Optum. She is passionate about applying epidemiologic methods to address challenging research questions in health care. Dr. Peetluk has more than eight years of epidemiologic research experience and has received extensive training in epidemiologic methods, biostatistics, evidence synthesis, and prediction modeling techniques. She has applied these methods across a variety of data sources, including prospective cohort studies, administrative claims, and electronic health record data. In her current role, Dr. Peetluk conducts pharmacoepidemiologic studies, considering how to address bias and confounding in the design, analysis, and interpretation of results. Since joining Optum in April 2022, she has been working on the FDA BEST project team, applying rigorous methods to design, manage, and execute safety and effectiveness studies on biologics, including COVID-19 and mpox vaccines. Dr. Peetluk is also an Adjunct Instructor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she teaches an advanced epidemiology methods in the Epidemiology PhD program. Prior to joining Optum, Dr. Peetluk worked as a Research Instructor in the Department of Medicine (Division of Infectious Diseases and Division of Epidemiology) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Her previous research focused on understanding the drivers of unfavorable tuberculosis treatment outcomes, specifically developing prognostic models for tuberculosis treatment outcomes and applying causal inference methods to examine the impact of clinical characteristics on outcomes. Dr. Peetluk has a PhD in Epidemiology from Vanderbilt University and an MPH in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Boston University.
