Katie Suda, PharmD MS (she/her/hers)

Dr. Suda is a tenured Professor at the University of Pittsburgh Schools of Medicine and Pharmacy, Director of the Transition to Independence Program, and a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist and Research Health Scientist with the VA Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion. Dr. Suda is a national expert in pharmacoepidemiology and pharmaceutical policy. Dr. Suda received a PharmD from Drake University and a Master’s in epidemiology at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Suda’s post-doctoral training includes a residency at Baptist Memorial Healthcare, and a fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Dr. Suda’s research interests include pharmacoepidemiology and effectiveness of implementation strategies to improve prescribing. Dr. Suda has received funding from federal and non-federal sources and currently manages a research portfolio of >$15 million with R01, U-level and VA Merit awards as Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator from AHRQ, CDC, FDA, NIH, and the VA. Dr. Suda’s research has informed national policy on antibiotic and opioid stewardship and the importance of population-level data in identifying public health solutions. Dr. Suda has served on expert panels focused on evidenced-based prescribing and health policy for federal agencies and professional organizations. Dr. Suda has written >250 research articles and sixteen book chapters. Dr. Suda has received awards for teaching and research, including the CDC Shepard Science Award and the ASHP Drug Therapy Research award.
