Dr. Bazarbashi is currently the acting director of the Cancer Center of Excellence and consultant medical oncologist in a section of GI/GU Oncology, Department of Medical Oncology at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, Riyadh. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the College of Medicine, Alfaisal University. He received his MBBS degree from the King Saud University School of Medicine in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia 1982. He completed his internal medicine residency and hematology/Medical oncology fellowship at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan 1991. He obtained his American board diploma in internal medicine in 1988, medical oncology in 1991, and Hematology in 1992. He was then appointed as a consultant in medical oncology at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center from 1991 till the present.
Dr Bazarbashi served as Chairman of the Saudi Cancer Registry from 2001 till 2013. He was a founding member of the Saudi Oncology Society and the deputy chairperson from 2009 to 2019. He served also as the chairperson for the Research Ethics committee at KFSH&RC from 2018-2022. He also was invited to serve as a member of the ESMO-GI scientific committee for the annual meetings in 2023-24. He has published extensively in GI and GU cancers and clinical guidelines, with more than 170 abstracts and more than 110 articles in peer-reviewed journals. He is on the editorial board of local and International journals and an invited reviewer for many local and international journals.
