In 2015 Laura Pazzagli obtained a PhD in Mathematical and Statistical Methods from the University of Perugia with a special focus on causal inference methods and inverse probability weighting. During her PhD studies she started a visiting at the Department of Statistics of Umeå University which lasted from 2013 to 2016. From 2016 to 2020 she has been postdoctoral researcher on 'Methodologies for time-varying exposure in pharmacoepidemiology' at the Centre for Pharmacoepidemiology, Department of Medicine, of Karolinska Institutet. In October 2022 she joined Björn Pasternak's Team, Division of Clinical Epidemiology, Department of Medicine Solna where she is currently Research Specialist and the principal investigator of a project focusing on the study of socioeconomic factors and antidiabetic medication use patterns in type 2 diabetes patients via causal inference methods.
