Antoine Pariente is MD in Pharmacology and Public Health with a PhD in Pharmacoepidemiology.
He is Director of the Bordeaux University Public Health Department and Deputy Director of the Bordeaux Population Health Research Center (BPH) which gathers a research community of around 600 persons. Within the BPH research center, He's heading a research unit in Pharmacoepidemiology, Pharmacovigilance and Medical Informatics (Inserm U1219 BPH team AHeaD).
After a PhD on the public health impact of drugs in dementia, he developped his research mainly on the real-world assessment of drugs used in chronic diseases and in assessing the impact of policy interventions on medicines uses and population health. Part of this research is also concerning signal detection and management in Pharmacovigilance and use of ML/AI for the structuring of unstructured data for drug assessment in in-hospital datawarehouses and pahrmacovigilance narratives. Altogether, this led him to lead or contribute to more than 200 publications.
From 2018 to 2021, he was appointed to the European Medicines Agency Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee as independant scientific expert. At that time he vas also in charge of the Bordeaux Regional Pharmacovigilance Center and was coordinating the pharmacovigilance follow-up of the Pfizer-BioNTech covid-19 vaccine.
Since 2015, he's coordinating a pharmacoepidemiology center (DRUGS-SAFE Platform 2015-2019, DRUGS-SAFEr center 2020- )acting as permanent partner with the French Drug Agency ANSM and the French Public Health Insurance CNAM. The center has produced more than 70 studies performed using the French nationwide health insurance databases SNDS.
