Marianne Naana Otoo is a second-year PhD candidate specializing in Health Outcomes at the University of Rhode Island. With a profound commitment to improving healthcare systems, her research centers on maternal and child health outcomes, as well as outcomes in chronic diseases.
Marianne holds a Masters degree in Pharmacovigilance and Pharmacoepidemiology from the North-West University, South Africa, and a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Marianne is actively engaged in professional organizations. She currently serves as the president of the ISPE URI Chapter and is a valued member of the International Society of Pharmacoeconomiccs and Outcomes Research (ISPOR), International Society of Oncology Pharmacy Practitioners (ISOPP), and the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana.
Marianne's passion for healthcare extends beyond academia. Before embarking on her graduate studies, she made significant contributions as a pharmacist at the Department of Child Health, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), Ghana, where she played a pivotal role in establishing the pediatric oncology pharmacy unit and developing several Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cytotoxic reconstitution and administration. Marianne's dedication to advancing pharmacy practice is further evidenced by her role as a clinical preceptor for the pediatric oncology pharmacy practice internship program, conducted in collaboration with World Child Cancer and the Ghana College of Pharmacists. Additionally, she mentored PharmD students on clinical rotation, imparting invaluable knowledge and expertise.
Marianne Naana Otoo is driven by a profound desire to make a tangible difference in the field of healthcare. Through her research, leadership, and clinical contributions, she continues to positively impact the lives of patients and communities.
